Under the responsibility of the Unit Manager, the position holder provides technical expertise and plays a key role in improving processes and equipment (modernization). He is also responsible for investment projects and major maintenance projects concerning equipment, utilities and buildings.
Main tasks and responsibilities of the position:
- Develop a clear business need for capitalizable projects or major plant maintenance projects with the support of the department head. Projects can affect health / safety / environment, efficiency, modernization of facilities, introduction of new products, cost reduction ...
- Prepare and request quotes;
- Coordinate execution activities with the sectors concerned;
- Develop and present periodic reports on project progress;
- Be responsible for providing the analysis of options and the recommended solution for the project in compliance with the standards and norms of the Mapei Group;
- Develop and implement a clear project implementation plan including the schedule and cost estimate and ensure compliance with these elements;
- Determine the team structure necessary for the project, support the stakeholders and identify the services required by consultants and contractors, their selection and the supervision of their work;
- Be sure to comply with municipal, provincial, federal regulations, company policies, applicable procedures and work instructions;
- Interpret and / or write plans, specifications, standards and technical documentation;
- Provide technical support to operations employees;
- Plan and coordinate the performance review of completed projects to ensure the proper execution of the contract specifications;
- Supervise contractors (design, engineering, labor, construction, etc.) by ensuring compliance with the specifications of the tender and with all HSE policies when it is on a site.
Requested skills
- Bachelor - Mechanical engineering, or electric combined with 5 to 7 years of experience in the manufacturing sector with a unionized environment or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Good knowledge of Autocad
- Proficient in mechanical processes including reading of electrical, mechanical and building plans
- Very good knowledge of project management
- Very good communication skills
- Very good technical problems resolution skills
