We have an excellent opportunity for a Director, Environmental Health and Safety at our Troy, Ohio location.
In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Work closely with COO, Human Resource Director, Director(s) of Operations, Facility Director and Division Managers to cultivate a positive Safety Culture.
- Provide health and safety leadership and direction to Division, Department and Project Managers.
- Develops strategic plans in collaboration with business and functional needs.
- Ensures objectives are in alignment with current best practices for occupational health and environmental health and safety.
- Leads development of harmonized methods, programs and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
- Develops annual budget and manages to budget/ forecast
- Manages the development, planning and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs across the corporation.
- Develops corporate health and safety policies and procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention and building safety), including those pertaining to hazardous materials and work areas.
- Reviews all contract documents related to ongoing or proposed work for safety related issues.
- Monitors performance of Environmental Health and Safety programs and regulatory compliance with all regulations, and handles all contact with the appropriate government agencies, with guidance from corporate legal department.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Leads and develops team of diverse and experienced EHS professionals and leaders.
- Work within the corporate framework to foster the career growth of direct reports.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) required, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Seven or more years' experience in a professional level safety related position.
- A strong working knowledge of safety requirements and OSHA related laws.
- Demonstrated judgment and decision making, as well as the capability to take projects from the conceptual stage to completion.
- Travel approximately 25%.
