Reporting to the Human Resources Manager- Canada (HR Manager) the HR Payroll Coordinator will provide support to the Payroll Coordinator and HR Manager, focusing on payroll and human resources responsibilities.
This role involves assisting with payroll processing and supporting HR functions in an environment that includes both unionized and non-unionized employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of administrative tasks while ensuring confidentiality and maintaining a high level of integrity.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist with the accurate and timely processing of both unionized and non-unionized payrolls.
- Ensure employee data in systems (e.g. SAP, ADP) is up to date, and ensuring changes are updated in Canada Life and Manulife as necessary.
- Provide vacation support to Payroll Coordinator as required.
- Offer assistance with various HR functions, including recruiting efforts, tracking HR metrics, issuing employment information/letters, and preparing union reports (e.g., Seniority Lists, Joint Labour and Management Meeting minutes, etc.).
- Support HR and payroll functions, including the maintenance of records and updates related to employee compensation.
- Address and resolve any payroll or HR-related inquiries from associates promptly and professionally.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and HR information.
- Ensure that payroll procedures comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Provide day-to-day support to the HR Manager and Payroll Coordinator in their HR and payroll responsibilities.
- Assist with other administrative HR duties as required, including data entry, document management, and filing.
Skills/Requirements
- Post secondary education in business/accounting or human resources is preferred.
- Minimum 1 years' experience in payroll processing and human resources.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all payroll-related tasks.
- Knowledge of relevant payroll regulations and procedures.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite
